On October 7, 2026, Israel marked the third anniversary of the Hamas-led attack of October 7, 2023, with commemorations and gatherings dedicated to those who were killed.

Among the memorial sites was the Nova music festival grounds near Re'im, where family members and other participants gathered to remember the victims of the attack.

At dawn, a minute of silence was observed at Nova, and families paid tribute to the victims in front of their portraits, according to reports by France 24 and the South China Morning Post.

France 24 reported that more than 300 people were killed at the festival. For the October 7 attack as a whole, sources put the death toll at approximately 1,200, with between 250 and 251 people taken hostage, reflecting slight differences in the reported figures.

The ceremonies were not limited to the festival site: families and communities also gathered at other locations hit by the attack, while memorials and commemorative events were held in various places across Israel.

The commemorations took place as the war in Gaza continues and Israel's political debate turns toward the next elections, in which the October 7 attack remains a central issue. France 24 also reported that security measures had been stepped up around the commemorative events.

According to The Hindu, this is the first anniversary marked by Israelis without any hostages still being held in Gaza: the newspaper reported that the remains of the last Israeli hostage were recovered in January.
